Overview of the specialization

The Colorectal Surgery Department has received significant attention since the opening of Jordan Hospital due to its importance in the community and improving our patients' health. It is the department dedicated to colon diseases and their medical and surgical management. Many diseases affect the colon and anus: from benign to malignant. The department offers the latest treatments, including laser interventions for anal fistulas and hemorrhoids, endoscopic bowel resection and excision, and minimally invasive endoscopic procedures for these organs.

Colon cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, so dedication to early diagnosis and appropriate management are crucial in its treatment.

A multidisciplinary team also manages these cases to facilitate the treatment plan according to international guidelines and standards, keeping up with the rapid developments in the medical world to ensure our patients receive the best treatment. Our expert consultants work closely with consultants from the gastroenterology, medical oncology, radiology, and urology departments to facilitate rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment by incorporating all these departments at Jordan Hospital.

Benign cases such as hemorrhoids, anal fistula, and anal fissure are handled either with traditional open surgery or with more advanced techniques such as laser-based operations, thereby providing an appropriate treatment method tailored to each patient's needs.

Our consultants are also experts in treating ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. These cases are treated medically or surgically depending on the apparent symptoms, stage, patient's age, and previous procedures.
