Jordan Hospital

Medical Education Department

General Overview

Jordan Hospital was established in 1996 with constructive efforts by a group of distinguished physician colleagues, each in his field of specialization, as a general hospital that combines its wings with all general and subspecialties.
This is to be a nucleus and an example of distinguished teamwork in the private sector for the care of patients in Jordan and in our Arab region.

And it became clear to those in charge of the hospital from the board of directors at the time that the educational dimension of the hospital was added, especially in light of the changes that occurred in our region, that our children, newly graduated doctors, were unable to travel abroad to complete training and education due to the special circumstances of European and American countries after the New York incidents, and the vision was It is clear and sound for the board of directors to add the educational dimension to this distinguished medical edifice.

The hospital administration has worked since 1998 to link educational programs with the Jordan College of Medicine over a period of two years through an integration agreement with the University of Jordan, through which medical students and resident physicians are trained in all specialties at Jordan Hospital. This was the first experience of the University of Jordan’s openness to private sector .

Indeed, it was a pioneering experience and gave the educational mission in the hospital a strong impetus for the future, and the feeling of the importance of the educational role of this edifice at the local level grew.

After the termination of this agreement by the university in 2000 and due to special circumstances at the University of Jordan, and in recognition by the hospital administration of the importance and educational duty of this medical edifice, the Department of Continuing Medical Education was created in the hospital to undertake the task of initiating and developing all educational programs in the hospital and in coordination With each of the Arab Board of Medical Specialties, centered in Damascus, and the Jordanian Medical Council, to develop residency and training programs in the four main specialties (general surgery / general internal medicine / children / gynecology and obstetrics).
Subspecialty training of both internal medicine and surgery followed.

Indeed, it is a pioneering experience and these programs have been recognized as shown in the special profile of each department.
The Board of Directors has set the vision and strategic message in terms of advancing the medical education and training process at the same distance from the hospital to be a center of excellence and high-level medical services at the local and regional levels. The number of graduates from all disciplines reached 445 (227 Jordanian) and (218) from the sister Arab countries (Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria).

This and that the number of beds in the hospital is now 300 beds, as there are all major medical specialties and sub-specialties in the hospital.
