The cardiology department at the Jordan Hospital is a modern regional facility that is equipped to treat patients with congenital, rheumatic and degenerative heart disease.

There are two cardiac catheterization laboratories and a modern department of ultrasound. Thousands of patients undergo cardiac catheterization and coronary interventions every year. These include balloon dilatation and stent implantation for coronary artery disease and valvuloplasties, closure of atrial septal defects and patent ductus arteriosus.

Ultrasound examinations are possible with the new 5000 ALT machine. Transesophageal echocardiograms are also performed daily.

A Coronary Care Unit and a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit

During the last two years an electrophysiology department was established. Electrophysiological studies and transcatheter ablations and pacemaker implantations are performed daily. Several hundred patients have been treated so far.
